Questions parents ask
Is KinderSpotter free for parents?+
Yes. Searching, saving, applying and Find Me a Spot are free for families. Providers can use a free plan too, so keeping availability up to date is never behind a paywall.
Where does the childcare information come from?+
Licensing details come from each province’s own open government dataset of licensed child care facilities. We started with Ontario and British Columbia and are adding more provinces over time. Providers add programs, hours and availability after claiming their listing. We always show which is which.
What does “availability confirmed” mean?+
A provider told us directly, on that date, how many spaces they have. We show how long ago that was, and after 30 days we stop presenting it as confirmed and ask the provider again.
Do you show every daycare in my city?+
In any province where we’ve imported data, we list every licensed centre and home child care agency, including ones that haven’t joined yet. For those we show licensing information and let you ask about availability; we never guess whether they have space. See /childcare for where we’re live so far.
Does joining a waitlist here replace the centre’s own process?+
Providers who use KinderSpotter manage their waitlist here. Others may still ask you to complete their own forms; we tell you when that’s the case. Enrolment is always finalised by the provider.
